![]() ![]() In old versions of hMailServer, passwords were stored in plain text. PreferredHashAlgorithm - This setting allows you to specify which hashing algorithm hMailServer should use for passwords in the hMailServer database. So the question remains: where in the code is it written that the (phpwebadmin or hmailserver administrator) program updates changed passwords with accountpwencryption "3" ? And how can I chnage this setting to "2". so it might be a hmailserver code thing even, correct me if Im wrong, Martin you might be able to assist here ? Looking at the code with my feable knowledge of php and java, it seems the code calls the hmailserver appLication upon creation of the password. ![]() The update or save feature in both programs overwrites any other setting manually changed in the hm_accounts.accountpwencryption to "3". Passwords updated through hmailserver administrator or phpwebadmin have encryption setting "3". Hmailadministrator application access -> md5 encrypted. I have done some more investigation, the settings in the ini file -to my opinion- have nothing to do with how the user passwords are created, either from within hmailserver administrator nor from phpwebadmin. How can I overcome the hashing issue in the password field. The syntax document for this can be found here. Is this correct ? How can I create the htaccess file so that it authenticates on this table, with a htaccess file like below: I think the reason for this is the fact that the password field in the table is md5-hex hashed. And I am able to authenticate to a MySQL table with below htaccess file:ĪuthMYSQLpasswordfield user_passwd -> this is entered plain text !!!īut I want to use the hmailserver created database (in my case: mail), but I contiuously get errors in apache stating that the password is not correct. And I have loaded mod_auth_mysql in xampp apache from xampp version 1.6.6. I have installed the httpd authentication plugin for squirrelmail, so that I can access squirrelmail using an htaccess. + XAMPP CLI Bundle 1.3 from Carsten Wiedmann + PHP 5.2.9 + PEAR (Support for PHP 4 has been discontinued) # ApacheFriends XAMPP (Basispaket) version 1.7.1 # I am using squirrelmail to read the emails. Hi, I have installed a xampp server and am using hmailserver to function as mailer.
